NBA: Booker Plans Superteam in Phoenix
With 4 wins and 15 defeats, the Phoenix Suns are defeated in the table cellar of the Western Conference. In the person of Devin Booker, however, the franchise has a promising cornerstone for the future – and he has big plans with the Suns.
“I want to build a super team. I want the super team to come to Phoenix for me,” Booker told Vincent Goodwill from Yahoo Sports.
The 22-year-old admitted that the Suns are still a long way from attacking the Warriors or any of the league’s top teams. But the young core around him himself and top pick Deandre Ayton should help to attract top players.
“If the players in the Free Agency want to join us because they want to see what we have here with the big guy (Ayton) and me and reach new heights, then I’m all for it,” says Booker.
Booker last summer signed a contract extension of 5 years and 158 million dollars in Phoenix. In his career in the NBA to date, the 13th Pick of Draft 2015 averaged 20.2 points, 3.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds.
In the current season, however, Booker was able to increase his assists to 7.1 points per game, as head coach Igor Kokoskov often uses the Shooting Guard on the first. However, Booker is happy to accept this new role.
“If Playmaking is required of me, then I will do it. If it’s scoring, then I’ll do it,” says the 22-year-old. “I’m still trying to find the right balance.”
