Ski jumping: Gregor Schlierenzauer flies out of ÖSV World Cup team: “He has to change something”
The ÖSV has drawn a line under the weak results of Gregor Schlierenzauer in the young World Cup season in ski jumping. The record World Cup winner has been removed from the Austrian World Cup squad and has to undergo individual training.
“He has problems, Gregor simply has to change something,” ÖSV sports director is quoted by Kurier. The training is scheduled for the time being for an indefinite period. Should the 53-time World Cup winner’s performance improve, nothing will stand in the way of him joining the squad for the Four Hills Tournament.
“He should now train in peace and get the security again. We know how important he can be,” said Stecher. Similar methods were also used by Michael Hayböck; the 27-year-old had to stop Tagil at last weekend’s World Cup in Nizhny.
Schlierenzauer finished twelfth in Ruka a little more than a week ago, but missed out on the 2nd round in all four other individual competitions.
The Ski Jumping World Cup will be continued next weekend in Titisee-Neustadt (Germany). Before the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf begins on 29 December, the competitions in Engelberg, Switzerland, are on the programme.
