Only a fight will make Fury king

Munich – With his dominant victory over Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury has finally overcome his time of suffering. Will it come to the giant duel now?

When Tyson Fury entered the arena at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, he chose the really big performance. Disguised as a king, Fury sat on a throne and was carried to the ring on a palanquin.

But a good 45 minutes later Fury was again the king in reality. In a boxing demonstration he dismantled the undefeated Deontay Wilder by every trick in the book. In the seventh round, Wilder’s corner finally threw in the towel.

Fury cheered with outstretched arms. Fervently he smashed the evergreen “American Pie”, this bittersweet ballad by Don McLean, dedicated to the lifestyle of Rock ‘n’ Roll, which he himself knows only too well. After 1229 days, the 31-year-old can call himself world heavyweight champion again. In between lies an incredible path that has made Fury look into the abyss several times.

In November 2015 the “Gipsy King”, as Fury’s nickname is known, caused a bang when he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko, who had been undefeated for eleven years, and secured three World Champion belts in one fell swoop.

Doping ban, cocaine and a broken Klitschko fight
In July 2016 there was to be a rematch with Klitschko, but an ankle injury of Fury prevented the fight. Rumours of doping offences with steroids are making the rounds.

The British anti-doping agency later suspended him for two years. The duel with Klitschko was rescheduled for October 29th, but Fury cancelled that date a month earlier. Later it is known that he was tested positive for cocaine by the American anti-doping agency on that day.

This was followed by an unprecedented fuss about his resignation, which he first announced but then revoked only hours later.

Fury thought of suicide every day
He announced that he suffers from depression before returning his World Champion belts on October 13, 2016. At that time he was thinking about suicide every day, Fury revealed.

Sportingly, things became quiet around the eccentric Brit. In July 2017 he resigned again, only to announce his comeback for 2018 in October. But at that time Fury was anything but in good shape. A heavy overweight made experts and fans doubt that Fury was serious about his comeback.
