The Swedish defender Victor Hedman decided the fifth game of the best-of-seven series against the Boston Bruins in the night of Tuesday with the winning goal for 3-2 in second extra time. The series in Toronto ended 4-1 for Tampa.
The Lightning are thus a potential opponent for goalkeeper Thomas Greiss and striker Tom Kühnhackl in the final of the Eastern Conference. The German duo leads 3:1 with the New York Islanders against the Philadelphia Flyers in the parallel series.
Colorado Avalanche held his own in the semi-final race. With a 6:3 victory over the Dallas Stars in Edmonton, the team of injured German goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer reduced the score in the series to 2:3 and forced a sixth quarter-final match.
