“Best season”: Praise for Schröder
National coach Henrik Rödl is very pleased with the performance of Dennis Schröder in the past NBA season.
National basketball coach Henrik Rödl has praised national player Dennis Schröder despite his play-off exit in the NBA.
“He has improved again. You always take that with you. He has left his scent mark among the best. A great season, on which you can of course build,” Rödl told SID. Schröder was eliminated by a 102:104 with the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Houston Rockets in the decisive seventh first round match.
Before the season there had been no talk of a play-off.
“The expectation was much lower, perhaps even that he would be traded. The team did a great job,” said Rödl. After the departure of star Russell Westbrook to Houston, however, Schröder stood his ground and played strongly, which earned him the nomination for the award as most valuable substitute (“Sixth Man”).
This is one of the reasons why Rödl called the season Schröder’s “best season” in the NBA so far.
