Basketball: NCAA: Louisville loses championship title after sex scandal

The college basketball team at the University of Louisville, Kentucky, has been deprived of the 2013 championship titles following a sex scandal.

An investigative committee of the US College League NCAA found it proven that assistant coach Andre McGee had organized illegal sex parties with prostitutes and strippers for players and potential newcomers from 2010 to 2014.

The scandal had already become known in October 2015 when escort lady Katina Powell testified against McGee.

In addition to the championship title, the university’s NCAA also eliminated all 123 college victories from 2011 to 2015, including participation in last season’s final four tournament. The NCAA’s disqualification of a championship is a novelty in the 120-year history of US college basketball.

The NCAA rejected an objection to the verdict, saying:”We consider this to be a bad decision,”said Greg Postel, interim president of the University of Louisville:”We made it clear from the outset that the actions of those responsible at the time were inexcusable for us. Now it’s time for the university to close this chapter.”

Louisville’s star coach, Rick Pitino, had rejected any kind of conscience and stayed in office until October 2017, before the 65 year old was forced to take illegal payments to his players and take Pitino’s hats off, according to investigations by the FBI.
