Boxing: Mega-Fight in Las Vegas: Draw between Canelo and Golovkin
The eagerly awaited middleweight mega fight between the boxing world champions Gennady Golovkin and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (now in RE-LIVE on DAZN) has remained without winner.
In a spectacular twelve-round battle, the Kazakh and Mexicans separated in Las Vegas after the three judges decided to draw.
Golovkin took it in his 38th birthday.For the first time, professional combat is not the winner of the ring, but still retains its world championship belts in the middleweight of the WBC, WBA and IBF associations.Both boxers announced their readiness for a rematch immediately after the last gong.
“My focus is on the belts, I’m still the champion,”Golovkin shouted to the 22,358 spectators in the metropolis after the match:”I put pressure on him every lap” Alvarez, WBO half-weight champion, said:”In the beginning I wanted to see what he had to offer.I think I’ve won eight rounds.”
Immediately after the end of the last round, both fighters raised their fists and were celebrated as winners after thrilling the spectators with offensive and aggressive boxing.Judge Adelaide Byrd scored 118:110 points for Alvarez.Dave Moretti saw Golowkin 115:113 in front, Don Trella scored 114:114 on both boxers.
“This was one of the best fights we’ve seen in recent years,”said former world champion and current promoter Oscar De La Hoya.
