MLB: Child hit at Yankee’s game of foul ball
At the game between the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins (11:3) on Wednesday, a young girl has been hit in the stands by over 100 miles per hour of fast baseball in the face. The child was taken to a nearby hospital after first aid measures, initially there was no reliable information on the condition.
Yankee’s Third Baseman Todd Frazier hit a foul ball that flew into the lower ranks of the audience and hit the young girl who was at Yankee Stadium with his grandparents. There are no safety nets in this area. Many players were kneeling on the pitch after the accident and looked at the grandstand with dismay.
“I’ve seen everything. It was bad.I hope she’s all right,”Frazier said.”I wish it had never happened. It’s hard to be involved.I had to think about my children.”
Again, calls for more security measures at Yankee Stadium were made.Only in July a fan had been hit by a foul ball and had to be medically treated.A similar incident occurred in May.The club is already working on plans to expand the safety nets.
