MLB: Fishing nets in MLB ball parks extended

After a little girl was hit in the face on Wednesday by a fastball in Yankee Stadium with a speed of over 100 miles per hour, the first teams are now responding with rebuilding measures.Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariner’s nets behind the Home Plate are set to expand at the start of the new season.

On Thursday, the Reds announced that they will be expanding their nets behind the Home Plate in the Great American Ball Park to the outer end of the dugouts in the off-season.Similar commitments were made by the Fathers and Mariners.

Meanwhile, nothing concrete is known about the condition of the girl who was injured in New York and admitted to hospital.The father merely told reporters:”She is doing well under the circumstances.Just keep thinking about her.”

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred called the incident “very disturbing” and said:”Over the past few seasons, MLB has been working with our clubs to increase the number of nets in our ball parks.In view of the incident on Wednesday, we will step up our efforts in this important matter.”

So far, almost a third of the 30 teams have responded to the advice of the commissioner and extended their nets to between dugouts, the Yankees are not one of them.Most recently, the New York Mets in the Citi Field trapped nets during the all-star break extended to the outer ends of the dugout.The Minnesota Twins did this at the start of the 2016 season.
