Collins has been the manager of the Mets for seven years. In 2015, he led the team to the World Series, where the team failed because of the Kansas City Royals. His contract expires after the 2017 season, but the old master has declared that he does not want to end his career.
The front office now has to decide whether Collins, who also missed the playoffs this year due to an avalanche of injuries, should be allowed to continue.Newsday reports that in the past, however, people wanted to part with Collins several times. And I wasn’t allowed to.
The newspaper claims that COO Jeff Wilpon and General Manager Sandy Alderson have repeatedly wanted to break up Collins. But this always failed because of Mets owner Fred Wilpon, the father of Jeff Wilpon. It is said that Collins was accused of tactical weaknesses and a broken relationship with the players.
Among other things, Collins doesn’t use his reliefs appropriately:”Once he has fallen for you, he rubs you up,”an official told Newsday,”he’s burned players. He has no idea how to give them a break. No other team has used relievers as often this season in consecutive days as Collins.
However, Wilpon doesn’t seem to want to part with Collins,”he gets along too well with[Collins]”, a team official said.
