MLB: Minnesota Twins hold managers until 2020

Paul Molitor remains manager of the Minnesota Twins. The team from German outfielder Max Kepler has extended the contract with the Hall-of-Famer by three years until 2020.Molitor had led the twins into the playoffs after losing more than 100 games last year.

The Twins officially announced the new deal with Molitor on Monday.Having been the first team to reach the playoffs after losing more than 100 games last year, Molitor is also considered one of the top candidates for the Manager of the Year Award in the American League.

The Twins reached the second wildcard of the AL, but lost the game against the New York Yankees. After the game, team leader Brian Dozier said:”He is our skipper. He is our leader,”the Second Baseman Molitor praised and continued:”He does so much.He has his hands in everything. If you have someone like him, you’re lucky.”

Molitor, who spent the last three years of his hall-of-fame-career with the Twins, was hired as a manager in 2015 and succeeded Ron Gardenhire, a long-time incumbent.

The Twins continue to rely on Konstanz as their managerial position, since Molitor has only been the third manager of the team since 1986.Before Gardenhire (2002-2014) this was Tom Kelly (1986-2001), who won the World Series twice with the Twins.
