NFL: Hymn protest: Trump wants to cut tax relief for NFL
Donald Trump won’t let go of the hymn protest in the NFL and wants to cut tax breaks for the football league “Why is the NFL getting massive tax breaks while at the same time ignoring our anthem, flag and country?Change tax law”, the world’s most powerful man told Twitter.
He left it open how Trump’s measures should look like in practice. The same applies to the question of whether other US pros such as the NBA (basketball), NHL (ice hockey) and MLB (baseball) should also be affected.
Last Sunday, Vice President Mike Pence had left the NFL match between the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers early, after more than 20 49ers’ pros were kneeling in protest against racism and police violence in the US during the hymn.Pence had received great praise from Donald Trump for his reaction.

For weeks now, the dispute between the US President and the NFL has been intensifying. The summit of verbal derailments was a statement by Trump, who called the protesting players “sons of bitches” and demanded their dismissal.
In 2016, former 49’s quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first player to express his protest explicitly against racism and police violence by kneeling down.Since then he has found many imitators.Kaepernick has been unemployed since this globally acclaimed action, and no club wants to sign him up.
