Olympics: USA reaffirm interest in Winter Games

The US has reaffirmed its interest in hosting the Winter Olympics.However, it remains to be seen whether the National Olympic Committee USOC will apply to Los Angeles in 2026 or 2030 after the bid for the 2028 Summer Games.

“Ideally, this is probably in 2030, so there will be no confusion with the preparations for 2028,”USOC President Larry Probst said in Colorado Springs on Friday during a USOC meeting.Most recently, the USA hosted the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

Before making a decision, the USOC wants to wait and see whether the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will again favour a double award at the General Assembly in Milan in its decision 2019.In the USA, Salt Lake City, Denver and Reno-Tahoe have expressed interest.In Europe, Sion (Switzerland) and Innsbruck (Austria) are preparing applications.
