NHL: NHL: Oilers finish defeat series

The Edmonton Oilers have broken through their defeat series in the North American professional league NHL without German international Leon Draisaitl (21). After four consecutive defeats in a row, the Canadians scored a 2-1 victory at the Chicago Blackhawks after extra time, their second win of the season in sixth.

Draisaitl was again missing due to an eye injury he suffered in the third meeting of the Oilers. The center also complained about symptoms of concussion.

Mark Letestu scored the decisive goal in Chicago in the fifth minute of overtime. Top scorer Connor McDavid delivered assists to both goals.

Without the German duo Thomas Greiss and Dennis Seidenberg, the New York Islanders won the city duel with the New York Rangers 4:3 after penalty shooting.

Tobias Rieder was the only German player left on Friday night, but he was unable to prevent his Arizona Coyotes’ 4-5 defeat against the Dallas Stars.
