MLB: Houston-Staf makes a racist gesture a scandal
Yuli Gurriel of the Houston Astros caused a sensation in Game 3 of the World Series. The Cuban made fun of the Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish from the Los Angeles Dodgers with a racist gesture. The MLB investigates the action and could impose a penalty.
After Gurriel had struck a homerun against the Japanese in the second inning and returned to the Astros’ dugout, he made an obvious slit-eye gesture towards Darvish with his fingers.
Gurriel has not yet commented on the situation, his manager A. J. A Major League spokesman for Baseball said that the League is aware of the gesture and is planning to talk to the First Baseman, but there is still nothing known about the possible consequences for Gurriel.
Darvish, who has Japanese and Iranian roots, said with the help of an interpreter that this gesture was “disrespectful”, but he also indicated:”He made a mistake. He’ll learn from it. We’re all human.
