NBA: Porzingis: Record means nothing without playoffs
Kristaps Porzingis is currently electrifying New York Knicks fans and has now even set a franchise record for most points in the first ten games of a season. However, the Latvian authorities have other priorities.
Porzingis has set exactly 300 points in the first ten games, beating Bernard King’s (298)1984/85 record for the season. Porzingis said after the game that this was an “honor”, but nothing more.
“The best thing for us to do is move into the playoffs. If we keep winning games and I keep doing what I have to do, the real reward will come.”
With an average score of 30 points, Porzingis is currently the second best scorer in the league, with the Knicks standing at a surprisingly strong 6-4 record. According to reports, the euphoria among New York fans is already so great that the 22-year-old received some votes at the New York Mayor’s election on Tuesday, although he of course had not signed up for it.
“That’s pretty funny. I’m definitely ready for the job,”Porzingis laughed at ESPN.”People have a lot of imagination.”
