NFL: Colts’ Davis is out for the rest of the season
Vontae Davis will miss the Indianapolis Colts the rest of the season. Cornerback will undergo groin surgery to correct a long lasting injury.
Davis has been working on the injury for a while now and asked for further opinions from doctors before deciding to undergo surgery. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports this.
Last Sunday a dispute between Davis and head coach Chuck Pagano became known because the latter had put the cornerback on the bench in the game against Houston Texans. Pagano then explained that it was his decision and had nothing to do with an injury.
“I’ve been here for six years. We had similar situations where I played injured. These things happen. And no one’s ever told me that my performance got worse. Nothing. I have always played at an acceptable level,”Davis said after the Texans game.
And Davis went on to say:”But now I’ve gotten worse and then this? They should have come to me much earlier and said,’ Vontae, you are not yourself. “You’re not playing well.” I told the physios that my performance wouldn’t improve.
Colt’s General Manager Chris Ballard asked why Davis didn’t show up on an Injury Report on the radio station JMV1070, knowing that Davis was found fit by doctors early in the season,”He didn’t play very well,”Ballard said.
Davis will become a Free Agent at the end of the season and might have played his last game for the Colts in the current situation.
