Boxing: Oscar de Hoya: Comeback against Connor McGregor?

Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has challenged UFC champion Connor McGregor and would make his comeback to compete with the Irish. The 44-year-old De La Hoya sees himself in the best phase of his life, after almost ten years without a fight.

“It’s still in me. I’m already training secretly and I’m stronger and faster than ever. I would make my comeback for this fight,”said De La Hoya on Golden Boy Radio,”I can knock out McGregor in two rounds and challenge him,”he added.

De La Hoya is aware of the fact that he would have no chance in a cage fight and said,”Let’s face it, he would finish me in the cage,”explained the multiple world champion who finished his career in 2008.

Oscar “Golden Boy” De La Hoya (39-6) was one of the best and most popular boxers ever and had won ten World Championship titles in six weight classes in his career. Before he finished his career in 2008, however, he clearly lost to Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

De La Hoya, now head of Golden Boy Promotions, has repeatedly attracted attention in recent years with alcohol and drug problems,”Life is hard. It’s not all peace, joy, pancakes, but that’s life and you have to find your way,”he said.

A few months ago, he strongly criticized the mega-fight between McGregor and Mayweather. Now, however, he would like to step into the ring himself against McGregor.

McGregor is still looking for his next opponent in the Octagon after his defeat against Mayweather. However, the UFC fighter did not rule out a return to the ring.
