NFL: Season Out for Jamie Collins
The Cleveland Browns will have to give up linebacker Jamie Collins for the rest of the season. He sustained a knee injury in the game against the Detroit Lions.
Head coach Hue Jackson announced on Monday that Collins suffered an injury to the internal ligament. It happened when Collins was brought down after an interception against Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.
“That’s unfortunate,”Jackson said,”That’s a heavy blow to our defense. He is one of our best players, one of our leaders and one of the really good people in the cabin. We’re gonna miss him. But that’s football. This kind of thing happens. He will grow through it, and as soon as he can return, he will be stronger and better.”
Collins’ season was marked by numerous injuries. He missed three games with a concussion. Prior to the season, he had signed a $50 million four-year contract after being traded to Cleveland by the Patriots during the 2016 season.
