NFL: Giants fire Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese

The New York Giants have drawn the consequences of a weak season, with only two victories and ten defeats. On Monday they fired both Head Coach Ben McAdoo and General Manager Jerry Reese.

McAdoo’s breakup comes shortly after quarterback Eli Manning relegated to the bench after 210 starts in a row and instead relied on Geno Smith for the Oakland Raiders. This staff rochade brought the 40-year-old a lot of criticism from players and experts.

The team owner of the Giants, John Mara, criticized McAdoo last week. He said he was embarrassed by the Giants’ record and could not guarantee that McAdoo would finish the season as head coach of the Giants.

McAdoo joined the Giants in 2014 as offensive coordinator and became head coach last year. In his first season, New York last year played himself to a 11-5 record and a second place in the NFC East. Now after the tenth defeat of the season against the Raiders the dismissal followed.

On the same day, the Giants also separated from Manager Reese, who will probably be taken over by Kevin Abrams, who previously worked as Assistant General Manager. Reese has been in office since 2007 and celebrated two Super Bowl victories with the Giants.
