NFL: Chiefs suspend Cornerback Marcus Peters after flying the flag
The Kansas City Chiefs suspended Marcus Peters for the game against the Oakland Raiders in Week 14. The Cornerback had thrown the flag of an impartial, out of frustration, onto the stands against the jets last week.
As Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports, the Chiefs punish their top defensive back by leaving the field during the game.
The flag-litter happened after Chiefs Cornerback Steven Nelson for Holding was punished in a two-point conversion attempt. Peters was punished for unsportsmanlike behaviour and then went to the cabin because he thought that he would also be expelled from the field, which in the end was not the case.
When he found out that he hadn’t been expelled after all, he returned to the edge of the field, but had no socks on and didn’t play after that.
When head coach Andy Reid was confronted with this on Monday, he said he hadn’t yet made a decision, but he said:”Peter did the wrong thing.”
