Munich-based golf pro Sebastian Heisele is still in good shape at his second European Tour of the Season at half-time. The 29-year-old dropped below par at the Joburg Open in Johannesburg on Friday, which was endowed with just over a million euros, and dropped from second to eleventh place with a total of 135 strokes. The leader was the Finn Tapio Pulkkanen with 129 strokes.
Heisele, who, as in 2016, had secured his Tour ticket through the Qualifying School, had more problems after a great start with 64 strokes on his second lap.
In the end, four bogeys faced five birdies. The other two German starters failed at the cut. Marcel Schneider (Pleidelsheim) needed 144 strokes, Alexander Knappe (Paderborn) needed two more.
In Johannesburg, a leading position for Heisele would be doubly worthwhile. The top three top 10 players who are not already qualified in any other way will receive a ticket to the British Open on 19-24 October. till 22. July in Carnoustie, Scotland. The winner in Johannesburg receives a cheque for 195,830 euros.
