NBA: Magic talks about Lakers-Free-Agency 2018

The Los Angeles Lakers will have some cap space in the summer, not least because some contracts will expire in 2018. However, President Magic Johnson now explained that the Lakers want to save some of this money for the summer of 2019.

“We’ve got cap space for two top players for 2018,”Johnson calculated at Connected With.”But that doesn’t mean we’re taking advantage of it. We want, if we can, but have a Plan A and a Plan B.” For 2018, the Lakers currently have about $50 million available for free agents.

We could save some of that money and use it for next year,”said the Lakers legend.” We’re not going to spend it just because we have cap space.”

The Lakers were increasingly associated with upcoming free agents such as Paul George (Oklahoma City Thunder), DeMarcus Cousins (New Orleans Pelicans) and LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers).
