Golf: Old Master Langer back to Champion Tour Player of the Year
Golf icon Bernhard Langer has been voted player of the year for the fourth time in a row and for the seventh time in total on the US Champions Tour.
Last year, the 60-year-old Anhausener recorded seven tournament victories on the Tour for professionals over 50 years, including three major triumphs. For the sixth time in a row, the Swabian also won the money ranking.
“I’m proud of the way I played in 2017, and I’m honored to be re-elected by my colleagues,”said the two-time US Masters Champion, who was also the world’s number one in 1986 when he introduced the world ranking.
In 2017, Bernhard Langer had perfected his career Grand Slam on the Champions Tour when he won the Senior PGA Championship. With his success at the Senior Open Championship, he overtook all-time leader Jack Nicklaus with a total of ten major victories. Champions Tour boss Greg McLaughlin paid tribute to Langer:”It seems that he always plays his best golf when it matters.”
