Golf: Woods only gets off to a moderate start in 2018
Golf superstar Tiger Woods has only moderately started his first tournament of the year in his Californian homeland. The 14-time major winner only played one par-72 lap on the first round in La Jolla and was thus only 84th. Place.
Woods was extremely optimistic before his performance:”It feels good to be able to exercise normally and not feel any pain radiating into the leg. I haven’t felt this good in years.”
Also the two German starters didn’t get off to a good start. Stephan Jaeger came to the clubhouse with a 71, his Munich colleague Alex Cejka has to fear for the cut after a 74 lap. The front runner with 65 strokes is US pro Tony Finau.
Woods was unable to return to Dubai on 3 March after his early retirement from the tournament due to persistent back pain. February 2017 will no longer play on the tour. Only in November, the 42-year-old made his comeback at the Hero World Challenge, which he organized himself.
