Golf: Woods creates cut in La Jolla – Cejka and hunters fail

Golf superstar Tiger Woods has made a dramatic cut in his Californian homeland. The 14-time Major Winner qualified for the last two rounds of a US Tournament for the first time in 29 months on the Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla near San Diego with a birdie on the last hole and a total of 143 strokes.

Alex Cejka and Stephan Jäger from Munich missed the cut with 144 strokes each. The American Ryan Palmer (133) is in the lead ahead of the Spaniard Jon Rahm (134), who would rise to become the new number one in the world ranking by winning the tournament.

Woods, who had celebrated his last major victory at the US Open in La Jolla in 2008, has not been able to play on the tour since February 2017 due to persistent back pain. In the world rankings, Woods, who had led them for a total of 683 weeks, is now in 647th place.
