Cycling: Railway World Championships: Kluge/Reinhardt win gold in two-man team racing
Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt have won gold in the Olympic two-man team event at the end of the track cycling World Championships.
The discipline, also known as Madison, is once again part of the Olympic programme after a longer break in Tokyo in 2020.
The Federation of German Cyclists (BDR) ended the championships with four gold and two bronze medals after the triumph of the duo Kluge and Reinhardt. This means second place in the medal table behind hosts Netherlands.
In front of Reinhardt and Kluge, who is also a successful street professional and won one stage of the Giro d’ Italia in 2016, Olympic champion Kristina Vogel won gold in the sprint as well as Miriam Welte (Kaiserslautern) and her team colleague from Erfurt Pauline Grabosch in the team sprint. Welte won the 500 m time trial. Maximilian Levy (Cottbus) won bronze in Keirin and Grabosch in the sprint.
