NBA: Officially: Bonga goes directly to the Lakers!
Isaac Bonga will move to the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. The franchise announced last night on Saturday that the German had signed his rookie contract.
Bonga, who was promoted to 39th place, is to appear for the first time for the Lakers in the Summer League in Las Vegas on Saturday. He is the second German player to serve the Lakers, Moritz Wagner has already played three Summer League games for the traditional franchise.
The Lakers did not disclose any official details of Bonga’s contract, but according to media reports, it is a three-year contract. The 18-year-old had previously played for the Fraport Skyliners in the BBL.
Actually, many had expected Bonga to stay in Europe for at least another year to work on his game. Instead, the German international will play alongside superstar LeBron James next season.
Bonga was originally drafted by the Sixers, but they had passed him on to the Lakers for a second round pick in 2019 and cash consultations. The trade was already discussed on draft evening, but could only be finalized on Friday due to the league moratorium.
