Tiger Woods has won the Tour Championship in Atlanta and thus crowned the stony path of his hard comeback. His success at the last tournament on the PGA Tour calendar marks his first triumph in over five years.

Woods was acclaimed by thousands of fans in remarkable scenes on the way to the final blow. The 42-year-old putted not only for his 80th PGA Tour victory, but also for the first in over five years.

The former king of golf has been held up and thrown back again and again in recent years due to several back operations. Now he finally rewarded himself for all his efforts.

“I was very emotional,” Woods said afterwards. “I looked around, the tournament was over, and I won number 80. That’s a big number and a great feeling.”

In the end, a round of 71 on the par 70 course was enough for the American to win the tournament. Woods never led with less than 2 strokes ahead of Billy Horschel and Justin Rose on the last day in East Lake and finished the tournament with this brand.

Woods secured a bonus of 7.65 million US dollars with the title and will probably be 13th in the world rankings on Monday. At the end of last year, the 42-year-old was still in 1st place here.
