NBA: Melo discusses his role with the Rockets
Carmelo Anthony was not present at the 89:96 defeat of his Houston Rockets against the San Antonio Spurs for unknown reasons. According to ESPN, the forward will now discuss his role with the team.
When Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni was asked about the Melo situation after the game, he referred to General Manager Daryl Morey. “You need to talk to Daryl. As far as this topic is concerned, I have no answer for you now,” said the coach.
However, he said the following about Melo’s future role with the Rockets: “He will do what he has done so far. Melo was great. His role is to represent the 4.”
The Rockets have had an extremely weak start to the season so far. Actually the team around MVP James Harden wanted to try again to push the Golden State Warriors from the throne. But they are currently on a disappointing 4-7 balance, with both the offense and defense not working as they did last season.
After Trevor Ariza had left the Rockets direction Phoenix and Luc Mbah a Moute changed to the LA Clippers, Melo was supposed to fill the gap on the forward position.
The 34-year-old signed a one-year contract for $2.4 million, the veteran’s minimum salary. Previously, he was bought out of his old contract by the Atlanta Hawks.
