College-Football: Decision made! That’s the college playoffs.

The College Playoff Committee has decided: the NCAA College Football Playoffs are confirmed! There are several acquaintances – and in Notre Dame another great name.

Alabama, which also won a dramatic SEC Championship game against Georgia on Saturday after an outstanding, sometimes historically dominant season, was no more surprising than the equally strong Clemson Tigers. Supported by an outstanding defensive line, Clemson also marched through the season with confidence.

It became more exciting behind the scenes. Notre Dame was a clear candidate until late in the season for many, in contrast to Clemson and Alabama the Fighting Irish had significantly more tight games and less strong opponents on the schedule. But with the comeback victory at USC at the end Notre Dame booked his playoff ticket for many people.

The closest was the fourth and final play-off: Ohio State, who have had a turbulent season anyway, suffered an unexpected defeat against Purdue. Georgia would have had their ticket in their pockets if they had taken the lead over Alabama on Saturday.

Instead, Oklahoma, who took revenge for their only defeat this season in the Big 12 Championship Game against archrival Texas, can look forward to a ticket. The Sooners around his spectacular quarterback and Heisman Trophy candidate Kyler Murray (241/340, 4,053 YDS, 40 TD, 7 INT; 123 ATT, 892 YDS, 11 TD) may now show directly against Alabama that the Playoff Committee has made the right decision.

Georgia and Ohio State finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

The duel between Alabama and Oklahoma takes place as the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas. Clemson and Notre Dame face each other in the other semi-final at the Orange Bowl in Miami.

The National Championship Game will take place during the night from January 7th to January 8th (2am German time) at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
