NBA: Warriors: Jones out for a long time – progress on cousins

The Golden State Warriors will have to do without Damian Jones for a long time. The young center must be under the knife. This is reported by consistent media reports.

“Jones is going into surgery next week. He has torn a pectoral muscle and will meet with a specialist on Tuesday,” NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) wrote on Twitter. He also gave a direct forecast of how long Jones would be missing the champion.

The young center could return late in the playoffs or be cancelled for the rest of the season. “We will miss him for a very long time,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who has also had to do without Demarcus Cousins so far. Since there are currently only two fit centres in the master’s squad, there was speculation as to whether the Warriors would promote stretch big Marcus Derrickson out of the G-League. “We’ll check out our options,” Kerr said.

Jones was on the field for 17.1 minutes this season with 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds. The Warriors have already drawn the option for his coming year.

Cousins are taking steps forward in the meantime. Kerr gave a forecast about the coming week for the center: “He will participate fully in every training session.” Recently Steph Curry came back from an injury.

The Warriors still have three away games ahead of them and will face Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks next week.
