NBA: Boogie approaches comeback – in the G-League

The Golden State Warriors could soon be pleased about a prominent “newcomer”. DeMarcus Cousins approaches his comeback after surviving Achilles tendon rupture.

The centre will train with the G-League team, the Santa Cruz Warriors, on Monday, The Undefeated announced. Warriors coach Steve Kerr had also recently indicated that cousins could not only train there, but also play a game. His brother Jaleel also plays in Santa Cruz.

Boogie had suffered a nasty injury last January in the service of the New Orleans Pelicans when he was in the middle of his best season (27 points, 11 rebounds, 4.6 assists). In summer he joined the Warriors for the Midlevel Exception, also because he can be more patiently led there than with other teams.

Now he has received relatively surprisingly fast the release for training with contact and may participate in all units in which he would like to participate. There is no timetable yet for his return to the NBA Court, but this release marks a significant milestone for him.

Meanwhile, Boogie’s progress was not the only positive news for the Warriors over the weekend. Draymond Green will return earlier this week after an eleven game break.
