NFL: Scandal pro finds new team

Adrian Peterson signs a contract with a new team. The running back with the scandalous past returns to NFC North.

Adrian Peterson has found a new employer in the NFL after his dismissal from the Washington Football Team.

The running back signed a one-year contract with the Detroit Lions. According to ESPN, the deal is expected to earn the 35-year-old $1.05 million and various bonuses. Peterson will return to NFC North, where he had already played for the Minnesota Vikings.

In the past two years, the running back in Washington ran for 1940 yards and twelve touchdowns – not bad figures for the future Hall-of-Famer.

With 14,216 yards in his career, “All Day” is the fifth most successful runner in league history – but also attracted negative attention as a scandalous player.

A beating for his own son

After admitting to beating his then four-year-old son with a branch, he was suspended by the league from November 2014 until February 2015. As a result, he missed almost the entire 2014/2015 season.

A year later, after ten seasons, he left the Minnesota Vikings and came to Washington via stops at the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals 2018. The dismissal there came as a surprise.

Just a month ago, the franchise fired the second running back hopeful Derrius Guice. The police had arrested him for domestic violence. This was the franchise’s reason for the dismissal.

Now there is a gap in the position that the young Antonio Gibson and Bryce Love are supposed to fill. Veterans J.D McKissic and Peyton Barber are also considered promising candidates for a management position.
