NFL: Indianapolis Colts appoints Josh McDaniels as new Head Coach

The Indianapolis Colts have announced their new head coach. It’s as expected, Josh McDaniels, who spent many years as an offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for the New England Patriots under Bill Belichick.

Only two days after the defeat of the patriots in Super Bowl LII, the Colts make it official. McDaniels, who has already had two interviews with the Colts and was considered the clear favourite for the job after the first one, thus gets his second chance as head coach.

McDaniels was head coach of Denver Broncos from 2009 to 2010, but was dismissed in his second season due to lack of success and disagreement with the front office.

In the meantime McDaniels was still acting as offensive coordinator of the St. Stephen’s. Louis Rams before he took over the Patriots’ offensive again in 2012.

McDaniels won five Super Bowls as part of Belichick’s coaching staff, having served in various patriot roles since 2001.

McDaniels is the second co-ordinator to leave New England this off-season after Matt Patricia. Patricia was introduced as the new head coach of Detroit Lions on Monday.
