MLB: Texas Rangers trades Russell Wilson to the New York Yankees

The New York Yankees have reached an agreement with the Texas Rangers on a trade for Russell Wilson. The Seattle Seahawks superstar quarterback had previously expressed this wish to the Texan front office.

As ESPN reports, Yankee General Manager Brian Cashman and his Texan colleague, Jon Daniels, have been working on a solution for weeks. What the Yankees have to turn in for Wilson is not clear yet.

Wilson won’t play baseball professionally in the future, but he is expected to play baseball in jumping practice. As in his Rangers days, he is expected to participate in at least one training session.

“I would like to thank the Texas Rangers personally for giving me the chance to experience professional baseball again,”Wilson said in a statement.

Wilson played second baseman in the Colorado Rockies system for two years after being drawn in the fourth round of the 2010 Drafts. He beat. 228 with five homeruns for Tri-City and Asheville in 2010 and 2011.

Meanwhile, Wilson landed at the Rangers in 2013 with Rule 5 Draft and appeared in the Minor League complex of the Rangers in Surprise/Arizona for one day each in 2014 and 2015.

Wilson became famous for his successes in the NFL. For the Seahawks, who had pulled him in the third round of Draft 2012, he already won the Super Bowl after the 2013 season and only did not reach the playoffs in 2017.
