Olympia 2018: Biathlon pursuit: Gold for Fourcade, Austria goes empty-handed

Biathlon star Martin Fourcade has fought back in the pursuit race of the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. On Monday, the French defending champion won the hunt over 12.5 kilometres ahead of surprise Swedish man Sebastian Samuelsson and German World Champion Benedikt Doll. Best Austrian was Simon Eder as 14th.

The sprint fourth Julian Eberhard dropped back to 15th place after six shooting mistakes. Dominik Landertinger finished 26th. The eighth-ranked Fourcade prevailed twelve seconds ahead of Samuelsson. Doll was 15.1 seconds behind. The top trio each had a shooting error. Fourcade secured the first non-German victory in the fourth race at the biathlon competitions in South Korea.
