Kevin Love has been missing for a few weeks now with a broken hand and has therefore been watching the Cleveland Cavaliers as a “spectator”, following their latest revamped appearance after their trades. At the ESPN show “The Jump” he now said that it was nice that the team found its “joy” again.
“We’ve got some unselfish boys, young players who play extremely hard,”said Love,”I think you’ve seen it recently in the victories against Boston and OKC. That’s how we have to keep playing. When I get back, I’ll fit in – and I hope I’ll have enough games to find my rhythm.”
Love announced that he will lose his arm splint next week and that his injury is making progress. The forward, who would have taken part in his fifth All-Star game on Sunday, hopes that he will be able to intervene again in four or five weeks. In the meantime, however, he likes what he sees.
“It was simply wonderful to see how everyone regained their joy,”explained Love,”It will take a few weeks for everything to be fully recorded. And when I come back, we’ll have to get used to each other for a moment. But I really like what we have now.”
About the “old” team that was disbanded last week, Love said:”We never found an identity” His team hadn’t given up, but it just didn’t fit:”As[GM] Koby Altman said after the trade, we just kind of died a slow death. It just didn’t go the way we imagined. It was good to get new people and fresh wind in.”
Especially the team chemistry is said to have been poisoned in the last weeks before trade. At an already infamous team meeting Love was harshly criticized, especially by Isaiah Thomas, who has now been sent to the Lakers, but about the Point Guard Love said that he has no problem with him and he understands that the comeback situation after a serious injury is not easy.
“It wasn’t easy – I empathize with Isaiah,”says Love.”I’ve known him for ages. We played together in several AAU teams at high school age. I only wish him the best.”
