Christoph Wahrstötter’s medical examinations have confirmed the initial diagnosis. The 28-year-old Tyrolean thus got off lightly in his fall in the Olympic cross-country skiing round of 16 in Bokwang, while the 2017 World Championships fifth place suffered a severe concussion and abrasions.

Wahrstötter will stay overnight in the hospital in Wonju. The return transport to Austria is to take place within the next three days, the Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC) announced. Robert Winkler, who also fell, suffered a hip bruise.
