NBA: Playoff Reorganization?

LeBron James has spoken out against a reorganization of the playoffs. After Commissioner Adam Silver admitted in the All-Star Game that he was considering a new seed list, James had a different assessment on Wednesday.

“It’s cool to make a change to the All-Star Game – we just proved that – but don’t screw around too much with the playoffs,”said James, who won the MVP award at the reorganized All-Star Game,”You’ve got the Eastern Conference and you’ve got the Western Conference and it should stay that way.”

Silver had said that he was considering a seed list for the playoffs, regardless of the conferences, in which only the balance sheet is taken into account,”or else you could have the scenario that the two best teams of the league will meet in the conference finals,”explained Silver.

“I’ve been at the Eastern Conference all my career and we sold very, very well,”James continued,”There were years when we weren’t so good. But when I look back at the time I’m in the league, I’ve won the title three times, Detroit, Boston, Miami in 2006, that’s six titles in 14 years. So almost half, right? So what are we talking about here?”
