Snowboard: Sick snowboarder Hofmeister:”I missed everything”

Snowboarder Ramona Hofmeister has not yet been able to enjoy winning her bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

“Since the race, I’ve been lying in bed sick and have missed everything you can miss: the closing ceremony, the winner’s flight…”, said the 21-year-old from Bischofswiesen to Merkur in Munich.

Because of her flu, she was not allowed to fly back from South Korea until one day later,”more or less alone”, Hofmeister added. She said she was “just happy that the flu didn’t start a day earlier. That would have been very annoying.”

On race day, she had not felt “already” well. But I tried not to bark up the wrong tree,”said Hofmeister. Because of the illness, she has also “not yet realized” that her dream has come true:”I haven’t been able to celebrate it properly yet.

Hofmeister had to cancel her World Cup start in Kayseri/Turkey on Saturday “It would have been impossible,”she said.
