Dirk Nowitzki is still really hot from outside and helps the Dallas Mavericks shock the Denver Nuggets. The Portland Trail Blazers and the New Orleans Pelicans continue their series. Dennis Schröder, on the other hand, is cold-set by the Toronto Raptors.
After the playful lead in Milwaukee, the Sixers played down their boots consistently and won in Charlotte thanks to a hot little hand from outside. 16 threes went through the Reuse for Philly, the Sixers hit a strong 57.5 percent of the field.”Joel Embiid attracts so much attention that we have to sink our threes into the ground,”said coach Brett Brown.
And they did. Robert Covington (22.5/9 Threesome), Dario Saric (19.4/7) and J. J. Redick (14.3/5) were all from a distance that night – so the Sixers are hard to beat. In addition, there were the usual good performances of Ben Simmons (16,8/9 FG, 13 Assists) and Joel Embiid (18).
At the end of the second quarter, Charlotte also handicapped herself when the best defender of the Hornets, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, picked up two technical fouls for nagging and consequently had to shower prematurely. But only his absence could not explain the defensive weaknesses of the hosts. The Hornets were trailing almost the entire game, which was also due to the off-night of Kemba Walker (5.1/9 FG, 7 Assists).
Coach Steve Clifford defended his star after the game,”He is not a machine, but a human being. It’s clear that he doesn’t hang up 27 points for us every night,” you can’t expect that from Dwight Howard, but the multiple defensive player of the year made one of his best seasonal games and scored 30 points (12/17 FG) for the Sixers. Among them was also the first converted threesome of the season, when the center was completely free to pull off and hit at the end of the second quarter. Nicolas Batum (12,10 Dimes) contributed a double-double.
Three quarters were far too few, which offered the best home team of the league. The Hawks kept up and even went into the final section with a small lead (77:76). But once again, the Raptors’ bank made the difference and decided the game. Atlanta scored only a meager 13 points.
The whole game was a battle for Dennis Schröder, who didn’t want to succeed very much. At the end there were 11 points (4/13 FG), 3 assists and 4 turnovers for the German Point Guard. So, of course, the Hawks had a hard time putting countable items on the scoreboard. With 14 points each John Collins and Kent Bazemore were already the top scorers Atlantas.
Raptors coach Dwane Casey, on the other hand, was not at all satisfied with his men:”If it doesn’t work, then employment beats talent. One of them did not lack commitment and that was DeMar DeRozan, who scored 14 free throws and scored a total of 25 points. Kyle Lowry (4.2/6 FG, 7 Assists) remained inconspicuous.
The focus, on the other hand, was once again on a few reservists. Jakob Pöltl (6,3/8 FG, 9 Rebounds) was again convincing with a strong defensive underneath the basket, C. J. Miles (14) recorded 8 points in the fourth quarter.
Dwyane Wade stemmed himself with everything he had against the defeat of his Heatles, but in the end he was the tragic hero of the game. At first, the Flash could force the extra time with a three-point game 12.9 seconds before the end of the regular game time, but when he had the opportunity to send the game into a second overtime, the veteran failed with a short distance float. Kelly Oubre, who had fouled Wade just before the end, then put the lid on it with two transformed free throws.
The wizards could have decided the game in the fourth quarter, but a Bradley Beal step-back-jumper 1.6 seconds before the end could not find its destination. It was just one of four misses in 16 attempts for the Shooting Guard, who was otherwise hot and scored 30 points (6/7 threesomes),”We needed this victory,”Beal summed it up.”It’s very simple, we did everything we could to win it.”
In the overtime it was Markieff Morris (16,13 Rebounds) who brought the Wizards on the winning road with an important threesome 90 seconds before the end. In addition, Wall’s replacement Tomas Satoransky (19.7 Assists) made some important placements in the extension.
The Heat, on the other hand, could almost make up a deficit of up to 18 points, thanks in particular to the strong bank around Wade (22), Tyler Johnson (21) and Justise Winslow (15). The visitors also scored 60 points in the immediate vicinity of the basket, but the trio did not want to fall enough (9/33 threesomes) to win the match.
