Vitali Klitschko admitted in an interview that he was guilty of his brother Vladimir’s defeat against Anthony Joshua – and then pondered his return to the ring. However, manager Bernd Bönte cannot imagine that.
When Vladimir had knocked down the Englishman in the fight against Joshua in April in the sixth round, many fans wondered why the 41-year-old did not follow suit.Klitschko was too passive and lost in the eleventh round due to technical knockout. Now Vitali admitted that it was his fault.
“I feel guilty.I shouted from the corner that he should hold back after the precipitation in the sixth round.I didn’t expect a muscular fighter like Joshua to recover so well.Joshua surprised me.He was quickly fit again and stopped Vladimir. If I hadn’t, Wladimir would have knocked him out in the sixth or seventh round,”Vitali told Fight Hub TV.
In the same interview, the mayor of Kiev recalled how the brothers had repeatedly avenged each other for defeat in the past. When Vitali lost to Chris Byrd, Vladimir knocked him down. When Vladimir lost to Corrie Sanders, Vitali returned the favor.
“A fight against Joshua – my greatest wish!I feel like I can do better, I have to fight Joshua and get the belts back into the family,”he burst out of Vitali.

However, the 46-year-old added shortly afterwards:”But I’m sorry: in the position I’m in right now, there’s only a small chance to come back and fight Joshua.I think if I got into the ring, I’d knock him out.But right now, I can’t do that.”
Bernd Bönte doesn’t believe in a comeback either,”That sounds more like an April fool’s joke to me.I can’t imagine that at all.All in good time – and I believe his time is now as an active and successful politician in Ukraine,”said the Klitschko manager to Sport1.
In principle, however, Vitali would still have to be relatively fit. Finally, he explained that he still goes to the boxing gym several times a week and trains at the sandbag as well as with the jump rope.
