NBA: David Fizdale appointed new Head Coach of the New York Knicks

The New York Knicks must have a new head coach. According to media reports, David Fizdale becomes the successor of Jeff Hornacek.

This is reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Former Grizzlies coach Mike Budenholzer and former Cavs coach David Blatt won the race against other candidates.

The new Knicks trainer signs a four-year contract. According to Marc J. Spears (ESPN), Fizdale had previously rejected an offer from the Phoenix Suns, who have since signed Igor Kokoskov.

Fizdale started the season as head coach in Memphis, but was surprisingly fired after just 19 games. The Grizzlies stood at this time with a balance of 7-12.

In the previous season, Fizdale led the Grizzlies to a 43-39 record and into the playoffs. Fizdale became famous for his outburst of rage at a press conference when he coined the saying’Take that for data’ after being dissatisfied with the foul distribution of the referees.

Prior to his employment in Memphis, Fizdale worked as an assistant in the NBA since 2003. With LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh as assistant Fizdale won two championships.
