NFL: Carolina Panthers sign Running Back C.J. Anderson

The Carolina Panthers have signed Running Back C.J. Anderson. He had only been released by the Denver Broncos two weeks ago despite good performances. Now the former Pro Bowler signed a one-year contract with the Panthers.

The Panthers have been starting running back since Jonathan Stewart left for the New York Giants. With Anderson’s commitment, however, the Panthers are now well positioned again. The former Pro Bowler broke the 1000-yards mark as Rusher for the first time last season and ran for a total of three touchdowns.

In addition to Anderson, Carolina also has a versatile back in Christian McCaffrey, which has its strengths especially in passport matching. The Running-Back-Corps of the Panthers is completed by Cameron Artis-Payne and Fozzy Whittaker.

Shortly after Anderson’s dismissal from the Broncos, rumors about possible interested parties for the 27-year-old Running Back had already arisen. In addition to the Panthers, the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks were allegedly interested.

Already in his second NFL year Anderson was nominated for the Pro Bowl. In 2013 he joined the Denver Broncos as an Undrafted Free Agent and won the Super Bowl as a rookie with the franchise.
