MLB: Springer achieves six hits against Oakland Athletics

In the Houston Astros (22-15) 16-2 win over Oakland Athletics (18-17), one player had a particularly good day: Outfielder George Springer scored six hits and made no out.

The only thing Springer was missing for a cycle was a triple. Otherwise, the Center Fielder of the Astros succeeded in everything. There was also a 3-Run-Homerun in the second inning. According to Statcast, this flew 462 feet at an exit velocity of 112 miles per hour and a launch angle of 25 degrees.

In the end, he scored 6-6 with four runs and three RBI. Team mate Marwin Gonzalez (3-6, HR) was leading his team with five RBI.

This makes Springer the second player in the history of Astros to get six hits in one game. The other one was Hall-of-Famer Joe Morgan, who managed six hits in one game in July – but in twelve innings. Springer only needed nine, of course.

Astros left-hander Dallas Keuchel pitched eight innings and only made one run, while his opponent, Brett Anderson, was beaten up badly. In three innings Anderson gave ten hits and nine runs (7 ER), digging too deep a hole for his colleagues.
