MLB: Stanton’s home run marks historic milestone for the Yankees

Giancarlo Stanton shone with four hits and a home run in his New York Yankees’ 6-2 home win (28-12). With the latter, the star newcomer provided a historic milestone that was not reached for a long time.

Stanton (3 RBI) was 4-4 and only one triple away from a cycle. The home run was his tenth this season, with four Yankees beating at least ten home runs after exactly 40 games.

The Yankees had never managed that in their franchise history – not even after 50 games! In fact, no team has done this since the Texas Rangers in 2003, when Rafael Palmeiro, Carl Everett, Juan Gonzalez and Alex Rodriguez demonstrated so much power.

“Look, we have a very good lineup,” stated manager Aaron Boone: “I just love the way the guys present themselves every day.”

Before Stanton, Aaron Judge had recently scored a double-digit home run by beating his home runs ten and eleven this season in the first two games of the series against Oakland.

“We can hurt you anytime. And that’s why I say my job is just to get on base for the guys who come,” said lead-off hitter Brett Gardner. “We’ve got some guys who can really swing the bat.”

For Stanton, however, the next milestone is already waiting, because after his victory over Oakland, he has 999 hits. “I didn’t know that, but thanks for the info,” Stanton told reporters.
