MLB: Indians: Francisco Lindor laughs with a fake helmet

Francisco Lindor laughed on Sunday at his Cleveland Indians’ 11-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals: The switch hitter had picked the wrong helmet because he thought he was facing a right-handed pitcher. In the end, however, it was a left-handed man.

To prepare for an at-bat, hitters have to do a lot. You must have the scouting report in mind, put on gloves, grab the bat and put on a helmet. If it is a switch hitter, the latter is not so easy, after all they need two helmets – one for left- and one for right-handers.

The difference is the ear protection, which is always attached only on the side facing the pitcher. Lindor, such a switch hitter, was convinced in the first inning to face a right-hander, so he grabbed the helmet for left-handers. When he got to the Home Plate, he suddenly saw Danny Duffy, a lefty.

So Lindor had to reach back into the dugout, grab his other helmet and even tie his shin guard to the other leg, after all it was still upside down. In the end, however, the shortstop could laugh at the scene.
