NFL: 49ers: Richard Sherman “fit for training camp”

Can Richard Sherman ensure the hoped-for stability in the San Francisco 49ers secondary next season? The cornerback returns after an Achilles tendon rupture and remained in the NFC West after his release in Seattle – according to his own statements he will be fit in time for the start of the training camp.

In an interview with ESPN reporter Josina Anderson, Sherman confirmed that on Wednesday he was able to jog in the field for the first time since his Achilles tendon rupture. Before, he had only trained on the treadmill.

The Achilles tendon then felt “great,” Sherman added: “I will be fit by the start of the training camp. But the team will be extremely careful with it anyway.”

Shortly after signing in San Francisco, Sherman made it clear how he felt about his ex-Team Seattle: “The rivalry is what it is. And she’ll come back to life, I’m sure. I will be at the centre of this rivalry again. But in the end, I came here to win games.”

Sherman had shot Seahawks coach Pete Carroll a few days before. “His philosophy is more suited to college,” emphasized the 29-year-old. “You get four years, then you rotate.”

In addition, Seattle has taken the wrong path in dealing with its players: “I think they have gone a little off their own path when we talk about how they see players and how they value them. The team’s pillars are less valued, you’re curious about the younger players and the unknown.”
