The NFL has announced the venues for the 2023 and 2024 Super Bowl Games. Phoenix will host the 57th Super Bowl, New Orleans the 58th Super Bowl.
The host cities of the finals from 2019 to 2022 had already been determined: Atlanta (2019), Miami (2020), Tampa (2021), Inglewood/Los Angeles (2022).
The Super Bowl 57 will take place in 2023 at the University of Phoenix Stadium, the Arizona Cardinals stadium. “We are beside ourselves with joy,” said Cardinal boss Michael Bidwill.
Bidwill assured that they wanted to play the most fan-friendly Super Bowl in history, “bigger and better” than all previous finals.
So far three Super Bowls have been played in Arizona.
The 58th NFL Super Bowl will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans in 2024. The stadium is the home of the New Orleans Saints. It will be the eleventh Super Bowl in New Orleans. The city is thus the most frequent venue with Miami.
“Hosting a Super Bowl is synonymous with the city of New Orleans,” said Saints owner Gayle Benson.
Ten finals have been played in New Orleans so far. Louisiana included the biggest win in Super Bowl history, the San Francisco 49ers’ 55-10 win over Denver Broncos in 1990.
In 2017, the selection procedure was adapted by the NFL. The “selection procedure” has become more pragmatic, instead of several applicants who have been vying for the favour of the league with their concepts.
The interested parties place bids. The delivery of a Super Bowl is basically auctioned off. The final draw is then purely a formality. However, unlike in the past, the applicants are not known.
